iHealth Gluco-Smart App Reviews

Great app and product

I use this app with an iHealth BG5 glucose meter. I really appreciate being able to use the meter and have the readings automatically sync with the iGluco app, the iHealth website, and Apple Health. I like being able to record whether the sample was taken before breakfast, after lunch, etc. and have those trends available in the iGluco app. I also like that the target ranges can be adjusted. Overall the system seems fairly accurate. One thing that is kind of interesting is that the app requires you to scan a QR code on the test strip container (always 25 strips) before you open it. It will keep track of the number of strips left in the container, and it will expire the container after 30 days and prevent you from using the expired strips. Even though my insurance does not cover the cost of the BG5 meter or the test strips, they are both priced very reasonably. The cost for 50 strips is $25 and you get free shipping, so the overall cost isn’t much different than if I picked up strips for my old meter at a local drug store under insurance.

Great app and meter

I use the Align glucose monitor which plugs into the headphone port in the iPhone so convenient, compact and easy. I love it.

Love the app, like the product

The idea is perfect, the problems I have are the short battery life of the meter and having to scan the test strips if theres an error or they just expired, which wastes a lot of test strips. Also cant listen to music while using the meter.

IGluco

Excellent application to record and maintain glucose; BT device connects easily and reliably with iOS

Some Issues

I use this app 4 times daily to monitor my glucose levels. I was diagnosed about 6 months ago so all this is new to me. There are some issues but support has been responsive and seems to be working on a fix. Like many other users the app thinks it is a music player which requires me to make sure the app is closed after logging. I use two different medications and when I enter dosage in one medication is is a number field and pulls up the numeric keyboard. The second medication is formatted text so it will pull up the text keyboard which I am sure would be a bug.

Great app!

App is great for keeping track of blood sugar results, insulin doses. Easy to add results from another meter. I use the wireless smart gloco. Its compact and easy to use. The app also allows for offline result s download. Wish it had more viewable low battery indicator.

Love The Simplicity

I really love the simplicity of this application and the integration with the devices. Scan the canister of the strips, plug the strip to the device and connect to the iPhone; that simple. The integration with the Health App works great as well and the ability to sync the data to the cloud allows visibility even when I do not have my iPhone.

Love this unit and software

I look for anything that makes my life simpler, and iGluco succeeds. The accuracy is on point with other devices and having all my stats automatically stored to my phone makes mistakes less common.

Great App

Finally purchased the meter. I have been using the App to record for about a year. So much easier with the meter. Strips are very affordably. Looking forward to using this new product.

Works well as most apps for this purpose

I would like the reports to upload daily readings to healthcare professionals. The strips need to use less blood. Plus, the research part of this company must have correct follow through.

Generally Pleased

Have been using the wireless glucose monitor and this app for over a year now. Had some initial hiccups where the monitor was unable to recognize that a strip had been inserted. Even when it did recognize it, it did not get a reading from the blood sample or control solution. It took several back-and-forth communications including sending pictures over a period of several weeks before it was agreed that I was using the device properly. Once that happened a new device was sent out quickly. I have been using the new monitor for a year and have had few issues. I also tested my readings at the same time I had a blood test run at a lab. The results were relatively close to the lab results for a home monitoring product. My results were better than the FDA accuracy guidelines.

Generally works well

I use the device and app for sports based monitoring, not diabetic management. It is easy to use and works consistently. It has more functionality than I need. My larger issue is not with the app but with the accuracy of the glucose measurement itself. It consistently reports numbers that are slightly above normal. But measurements with other meters and in lab tests are always lower and within normal limits.

Great application

With the updates to the app I can now easily pair my iHealth model BP5 glucometer and the app on my ipad to measure and track my blood sugar level. The revised and improved tgest strips are much better than the originals. Now I only have to use one test strip each time to get a blood sugar reading to upload to the app. Now with the app it is much easier to scan the QR codes from the top of the lid of the test strips.

Excellent App & Device

I have been using the iHealths glucometer (BG5) along with the iGluco app for well over a year now and have compared it to several other glucose meters. This meter consistently runs 15-20 mg/dls lower than Contour Next EZ and AccuCheck. Caution: Just had an app issue with latest version 3.10.3, support tried figuring out the cause but couldnt. Word of advice, you can NOT scan/refill new strips using meter independently. In my case the app would constantly crash after connecting via Bluetooth I ended up eventually tossing the meter and deleting the app. Back to my older and dependably meter for good. Technology is great up until it fails and you need to take a reading....not good!

Very useful

Overall this app is very helpful and is well liked by my physician. The ability to email journaled results has been and is a great tool. It would be helpful to always have the numeric keyboard open for entering "units" of medication. Currently it does in some cases but not all.

Pretty good

Ive been using the BG5 and this app for 2 weeks now. Overall, it works. I like that it integrates the readings into the Apple HealthKit. This, along with using Sync Solver to import my Fitbit data (activity and weight), allows one to see the big picture and identify patterns. Next, I need to record dietary records. The minor complaints I have are: 1) the awkward scan or rescan of the strip bottle QR code; and 2) I am unsure how to best record daily medication data - by reading or by day (I only take oral meds and long acting Lantus). To be fair, my complaints may resolve as I refine my use of the app.
